Civil partnership
Civil partnership is a family life union between two individuals of the same gender, entered into before the competent authority in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Civil Partnership. They report their intention to enter into a life partnership to the locally competent registrar to which the place of entering into a life partnership belongs.
To the report of intention to enter into a life partnership Croatian citizens attach:
- identity cards,
- a copy of the identity cards of the witnesses.
When marrying foreign citizens, the following documents are required: birth certificates, and certificates of unmarried status, issued in accordance with international agreements and conventions. Documents must not be older than 3 months, unless another validity period is indicated on them.
Also, documents that are not on international forms should be translated into Croatian by a court interpreter. The deadline for reporting the intention to enter into a life partnership is 30 to 45 days from the date of entering into marriage.
In the e-Citizens system, through the e-Registration for life partnership, it is possible to electronically register the intention to enter a life partnership in the official premises for those born of legal age in the Republic of Croatia without coming to the registry office.
For drawing up the record of the intention to enter into a life partnership, the administrative fee is €9.29. For the act of entering into a life partnership, the administrative fee is €18.58. In addition to the official premises, the life partnership can also be conducted outside the official premises, for which a special fee is paid in accordance with established criteria.
